Frequently Asked Questions
Your first appointment is a chance for us to get to know you. We'll ask about what brings you in, your history, your goals, and what you hope to get from treatment. There's no pressure — it's a conversation, not an interrogation. Most initial sessions last 60 minutes, and you'll leave with a clear sense of what comes next.
Yes! We accept most major insurance plans including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Medicare, Optum, Oxford, and Tricare. We also offer self-pay options. Contact us to verify your specific coverage before your first visit.
Telehealth sessions happen via secure, HIPAA-compliant video. You'll receive a link before your appointment — just click it from any device with a camera and internet connection. The experience is the same as an in-person session. Many of our patients find telehealth more comfortable and convenient.
Absolutely. Everything you share with your provider is protected by law under HIPAA. We take your privacy extremely seriously. The only exceptions are situations involving immediate danger to yourself or others, or court-ordered disclosures — and we'll always discuss these with you if they arise.
It depends entirely on you and your goals. Some people find relief in a few sessions; others benefit from ongoing support over months or years. We'll work with you to set realistic goals and regularly check in on your progress. You're always in control of your treatment.
Therapy (or psychotherapy) involves talking with a licensed therapist about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Psychiatry is a medical specialty — psychiatrists are physicians who can prescribe medication and provide medical evaluations. Many people benefit from both. We'll help you determine the right approach.
Yes, our board-certified psychiatrists can prescribe medication when appropriate. We take a conservative, collaborative approach — medication is always a conversation, never a mandate. We'll discuss the benefits, side effects, and alternatives so you can make an informed decision.
You can reach us through our contact form, by calling (555) 123-4567, or by emailing hello@mindwellpractice.com. We typically respond within 24 hours and can usually schedule your first appointment within a week.
